Moon Ensemble is
changing the idiom of quartet music. With its unique instrumentation
of flute, violin, cello, and percussion, the ensemble is dedicated
to retaining the intimacy and artistry of traditional chamber
music while constantly challenging the way composers view a quartet.
CME is focused on commissioning new works from and developing
integral
relationships with emerging and established composers.
CME’s commitment to these objectives and its unique instrumentation
of flute, violin, cello, and percussion yields a stimulating
and untapped reservoir from which new musical voices will be
discovered and nurtured.
In Fall 2008, CME premiered
works by Luca Vanneschi, Dominic Donato, and Jay Batzner, and
recorded Jordan McClean’s The Eye is Closing on the
Days of Driving. Additionally,
the group was a semi-finalist in the Concert Artists Guild competition
and is currently a featured artist on New
Dynamics Records website. Recent performances include:
Kathleen Supové’s Music With a View series
at The Flea
Theater, Vox Novus Composer's Voice Series,
and performances at the Nicholas Roerich Museum, Waltz-Astoria, and
SUNY-Purchase. CME is slated to release its first album with New
Dynamic Records in 2010/2011.
